Top Travel Tips From A Travel Resort Owner

Let’s start our first blog post off by compiling some of the tips and tricks we use over the years when we travel. Coming from a person who has visited at least 50 countries, you can be assured that this is all good advice. Feel free to come back to us if you think we missed anything by the way.

  1. Do your laundry in the sink. Forget going out there and hunting for a laundromat. Doesn’t happen, and most of the time doesn’t really exist. Don’t even think about reusing the same underwear for multiple days in a row either, I don’t want to give you a lecture on hygiene, but thats gross.
  2. Learn how to use a basic sewing kit. You really only have so much space extra left in your luggage, so don’t add in all that extra stuff you don’t want to carry around with you. Learning how to sew a button back on will save you so much time and lots of money, so just do it.
  3. Learn the useful local phrases before you even get there. Things like thank you, hello, please, do you speak English and no thanks. All of that would help massively with your travel plans. I think phrases like ‘leave me alone’ are incredibly useful – think of all those crowded market places in Hong Kong where you get swarmed by the locals trying to sell you stuff.
  4. Keep an emergency supply of money somewhere. This is incredibly important. Losing your wallet has to be one of the most frustrating and unpleasant experiences ever overseas. Try putting cash into small containers and hiding it discreetly in your bags.
  5. Learn how to drive stick. Lots and lots of countries don’t use auto cars and you don’t want to be stuck at the airport because you can’t handle a manual car.
  6. Bring extra plastic bags for your dirty laundry. NEVER mix your smelly clothes with fresh ones – all of them will end up smelly and disgusting.
  7. Learn how to swim. Enough said.

This concludes part 1 from us – we’ll release parts 2 and 3 soon!
